UPDATE: School lockdown ends, RCMP discover deceased suspect

KAMLOOPS – Following a manhunt on Lac Le Jeune road, police discovered the suspect who was considered armed and dangerous in the vehicle they were searching for throughout the afternoon of Dec. 9. The 40-year-old man was found deceased from an apparent self-inflicted wound. A firearm was recovered nearby.

Police began their investigation and subsequent search for the suspect following a domestic report from a residence in the downtown core around 2:10 p.m.

RL Clemitson Elementary School in Barnhartvale was placed under lockdown after concerns were raised that the male suspect would try to contact students associated to him. Around 4 p.m. the lockdown was lifted while police contained the suspect's vehicle on Lac Le Jeune road. In their investigation, mounties were searching for a white 2007 GMC pickup truck with B.C. licence plate HT3082.
