Ex-workers plead guilty in day care fights

ELIZABETH, N.J. – Two fired day care workers accused of instigating scuffles among the children as part of what New Jersey prosecutors called a “Fight Club” have pleaded guilty to child abuse charges.

Authorities say 23-year-old Erica Kenny and 29-year-old Chanese White last month changed their pleas to guilty under a plea agreement.

Prosecutors and police say Kenny and White instigated the “Fight Club” among children ages 4 to 6 at the Lightbridge Academy in Cranford in August 2015. Authorities also say Kenny recorded video of the fights and shared the clips with several friends on social media.

Union County investigators say about a dozen boys and girls were shown shoving one another to the ground and trying to hit one another. The children apparently didn’t suffer any serious injuries.
