ZEBULON, N.C. – Authorities say a man has been shot wounded during a confrontation with police at a gas station in North Carolina.
Zebulon Police Chief Tim Hayworth said 30-year-old Kurt Waters called 911 Sunday afternoon to say he was wanted by law enforcement. He also gave a detailed description of what he was wearing.
Hayworth says officers approached Waters and he shoved one of them. The police chief says Walters pulled a weapon and officer Nathanial Brown fired his gun, striking Waters in the neck. The chief says Waters is in stable condition. He did not say what kind of weapon Waters had.
Police say Waters had a warrant for a probation violation and a long criminal record.
The officers were not hurt.
Zebulon is 20 miles (32 kilometres) east of Raleigh.
