NEW YORK, N.Y. – The U.S. Geological Survey says a magnitude 5.8 earthquake has struck the southwestern Mexican state of Oaxaca.
The U.S.G.S. said the quake struck early Wednesday with its epicenter 10 miles (16 kilometres) west of Santiago Pinotepa near the Pacific Coast. It had a depth of 6.2 miles (10 kilometres).
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
A magnitude 5.8 quake can cause considerable damage.
