Kamloops firefighters put out blaze at vacant home

KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops RCMP officer called in a fire at a vacant house on the North Shore this morning.

An officer on patrol early this morning, March 29, saw smoke and flames coming from a residence in the 100 block of Wilson Street, according to an RCMP media release. Kamloops Fire Rescue responded to the call.

The house was vacant and had been boarded up after a 2018 fire that damaged most of the interior, police say.

So far the cause of the fire is unknown, though police say it is possible squatters had gotten inside. However investigators found no indication that people were inside the house during the blaze.

Fire crews and police continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
