Semi rollover near Blue River kills driver

VALEMOUNT – The driver of a semi that rolled on Highway 5 about 22 km north of Blue River was killed in the crash.

Valemount RCMP say the tractor-trailer unit rolled down a 50’ embankment Saturday around 1:40 p.m.

The driver was the only one in the truck.

No word on what the truck was carrying and if there are any environmental issues.

The RCMP, officials from WorkSafe B.C., the B.C. Coroner’s Service and the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure are all investigating the crash.

The driver’s name hasn’t been released as the police work to track down his family and notify them about his death.
