Think I’ll go out to Alberta: province claims 3rd big lotto prize in a week

ST. ALBERT, Alta. – It’s three times lucky for Alberta in lottery games in the last week.

Emery and Lorraine Cressman of Calgary are the latest multimillion-dollar winners in the province with their Lotto 6-49 ticket worth $7 million.

Emery says he thought he and his wife had won $70,000 when he checked the ticket for the July 19 draw.

It wasn’t until he got home and checked the numbers on a computer that he realized the prize was much, much more than that.

The windfall started last week when Bill and Andrea Groner (GROH’-nehr) of Edmonton revealed that they were the mystery winners of a $50-million Lotto Max draw last December.

Then, on Tuesday, Brad and Amanda Kelly of Lacombe in central Alberta were revealed as holding the $18-million winning ticket for the June 25 Lotto 6-49.

There was also a $2-million Scratch ‘N Win prize winner from Alberta in the last week.
