Son says US-based missionary fighting Ebola in Liberia, still in isolation

RALEIGH, N.C. – The son of a U.S.-based missionary says his mother is fighting the Ebola virus while in isolation in Liberia.

Jeremy Writebol told NBC’s “Today” show Wednesday that he’s been able to talk with Nancy Writebol as she fights the illness.

He says his mother is able to move around the home where she’s in isolation and has been able to get plenty of fluids.

A statement from the religious humanitarian group, Samaritan’s Purse, on Wednesday said Writebol and Dr. Kent Brantly both remain in serious condition. Brantly is working for Samaritan’s Purse.

Meanwhile, Samaritan’s Purse is making arrangements for nonessential personnel to leave Liberia.
