OHL roundup: Steelheads win second straight

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – The Mississauga Steelheads won their second straight with a 3-2 win over the Niagara IceDogs. Joseph Costanzo stopped 41 of 44 shots for Niagara (14-27-2-1) while Roman Basran turned away 19 of 21 for Mississauga (30-13-1-5).

BULLDOGS 7, BATTALION 2

HAMILTON, Ont. – The Bulldogs continued their free-scoring and winning ways with a lopsided 7-2 win over the Battalion on Friday night. Hamilton (29-11-2-2) won their fifth straight with Mason McTavish and Logan Morrison both scoring twice against North Bay (28-16-3-3).

FIREBIRDS 6, STING 0

SARNIA, Ont. – Dmitry Kuzmin scored twice as the Flint Firebirds blanked the Sarnia Sting on Friday night. Benjamin Gaudreau stopped 17 of 21 shots he faced before getting pulled by Sarnia (19-19-3-1) while Luke Cavallin was perfect in facing 34 for Flint (29-14-1-3).

WOLVES 8, COLTS 5

SUDBURY, Ont. – A strong opening and closing frame carried the Wolves to an 8-5 win over the Colts on Friday night. Evan Konyen scored the game-winning goal for Sudbury (17-26-3-2) while Hunter Haight had two goals in the losing effort for Barrie (23-17-4-0).

GREYHOUNDS 6, KNIGHTS 3

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. – The Soo Greyhound avenged this season’s previous two losses to the London Knights on Friday. Owen Allard had two goals in the winning effort for Soo (27-15-5-1) while Cody Morgan scored one and set up another for London (29-12-2-0).

STORM 7, SPITFIRES 1

GUELPH, Ont. – The Guelph Storm won a third straight game, beating Windsor 7-1. Sasha Pastujov scored two and assisted one for Guelph (23-16-3-1) as Pasquale Zito bagged the consolation goal for Windsor (26-13-2-3).

ATTACK 6, RANGERS 2

KITCHENER, Ont. – Servac Petrovsky opened the scoring and later grabbed the game-winner as Owen Sound beat Kitchener. The Rangers (19-21-2-2) have now lost four of the last five games while the Attack (19-23-2-2) snapped a seven-game losing streak.
