Mostly sunny but continuing cool in the Okanagan

OKANAGAN – No major weather systems are anticipated in the Okanagan over the next few days, but the Okanagan is expected to continue in the deep freeze with below normal temperatures through the end of the month.

It's the same story from Penticton to Vernon this week with only minor variations. Environment Canada says to expect a mix of sun and cloud for the day before becoming mostly cloudy overnight with a high of -1 Celsius and a low of -14 C.

Wind chills are expected to range between -14 C and -4 C.

Tuesday will be much the same with a high of – 3 C and a low of -14 C under a mix of sun and cloud and wind chills ranging from -14 C to – 5 C.

Wednesday, more clouds move in along with a 30 per cent chance of flurries, with a high of -4 C and a low of -12 C

Thursday will be a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 1 C and a low of -10 C.

Friday’s weather will be similar, with mostly sunny skies, a high of 0 C and a low of -10 C.

The beginning of March will see temperatures climb above zero, but not by much, with Saturday and Sunday reaching 1 C under a mix of sun and clouds.

The normal daily maximum and minimum for Okanagan is 5 C and – 4 C.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. My goal in the news industry has always been to deliver accurate and interesting articles about local people and places. My interest in the profession is life long - from my earliest memories of grade school, I have enjoyed writing.
As an airborne geophysical surveyor I travelled extensively around the globe, conducting helicopter borne mineral surveys.
I also spent several years at an Okanagan Falls based lumber mill, producing glued-wood laminated products.
As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
Our two daughters, Meagan and Hayley, reside in Richmond and Victoria, respectively.
