Raptors lock up another core player by re-signing forward Patrick Patterson

TORONTO – The Toronto Raptors have re-signed forward Patrick Patterson.

Patterson, who was a restricted free agent, averaged 9.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 23.3 minutes in 48 games for Toronto last season after being acquired in a seven-player trade with Sacramento in December.

“We were very pleased with what Patrick brought to us both on the court and in the locker-room last season,” said Raptors president and general manager Masai Ujiri in a statement. “We are delighted that Patrick wanted to return to the Raptors and we look forward to his contributions as he helps us build a consistent winner in Toronto.”

Patterson, 25, averaged 10.4 points, 6.7 rebounds and 28.5 minutes during the Raptors’ seven-game loss to Brooklyn in the first round of the playoffs.
