Hamilton Tiger-Cats defensive end Jamaal Westerman out for season

Hamilton Tiger-Cats defensive end Jamaal Westerman will miss the rest of the season with a torn triceps tendon in his right arm.

Westerman, who hasn’t played a game this year, suffered the injury at practice earlier this week.

The national defensive lineman, who was born in Brooklyn N.Y., before moving to Brampton, Ont., during high school, was recovering from an Achilles tendon rupture suffered last year.

The Ticats acquired Westerman in a trade with the Montreal Alouettes last July. He suited up for eight games with Hamilton before suffering the season-ending injury.

Westerman spent time with seven NFL teams before joining the CFL with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2015
