Bacteria is gone, boil water advisory lifted for Aldergrove, B.C., residents

LANGLEY, B.C. – The precautionary boil water advisory has been lifted for Township of Langley residents and businesses in the suburb of Aldergrove.

The Fraser Health authority says water samples taken now show the system is clean and free of any traces of coliform.

The advisory was issued Friday after a low level of the bacteria was detected at a water sampling point in a local neighbourhood.

Two consecutive tests have since been taken and both the township and the health authority say they are satisfied the water is safe to drink.

Those in the advisory area have been told to flush their water-using fixtures for at least a minute, drain and flush all ice-making machines and change any pre-treatment water filters such as under sinks or in refrigerators.

The township hasn’t said how the bacteria may have entered the water system.
