MONTREAL – Service at two Montreal-area Canada Post operations was disrupted today after suspicious substances were found at both locations.
Ambulance services say four employees were seen by paramedics this morning at a major Montreal sorting centre after they discovered an envelope containing an “unknown substance.”
A spokeswoman for police says officers later determined the contents of the envelope were not considered dangerous.
Const. Anie Lemieux says around 15 Canada Post employees were kept isolated inside the Montreal centre as emergency crews set up a safety perimeter outside.
Lemieux says police are investigating the incident — including the letter’s origin.
A few hours later, a post office in the community of Ste-Julie was evacuated after staffers there found a suspicious substance.
