BERLIN – Germany has called on its citizens to immediately leave parts of Iraq, including Baghdad.
The appeal comes as Islamic insurgents push toward the capital after capturing two key cities.
The Foreign Ministry says Germans should leave the governorates of Anbar, Ninevah and Salah al-Din.
In a statement late Thursday it also urged its citizens to temporarily leave Baghdad, and expressed concern about the situation in Diyala and Kirkuk governorates.
