‘Baywatch’ star Pamela Anderson asks Alberta premier to help stop chuckwagons

CALGARY – Canadian-born celebrity Pamela Anderson has written to the Alberta premier asking her to help stop the chuckwagon races at the Calgary Stampede.

Anderson says she’d like Alison Redford to use her influence to convince Stampede organizers to — quote — “end these spectacles.”

Anderson says that, as a Canadian, she’s ashamed that the races continue even as horses die.

She says it’s clear that chuckwagon competitions will never be safe and must be eliminated.

Three horses died and a fourth was injured during a race at the Stampede last week.

Anderson is best known for her bikini-clad character in “Baywatch” in the 1990s and as a model for “Playboy.”

In recent years, she has become an advocate for animal rights and is a member of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
