
Evacuation alert expanded near Keremeos
KEREMEOS – The district has expanded the evacuation alert in the rural vicinity of Keremeos today.
A media release sent out at about 2 p.m. today, Aug. 18, says that residents in Electoral Area “G” should be prepared to evacuate at a moments notice. This includes properties on the south/southwest side of Highway 3 extending from 10th Ave in west rural Keremeos, to the eastern boundary of the Lower Similkameen Indian Band land, and includes the following properties:

Previous Evacuation Alerts were issued August 17, 2018 for Electoral Areas “G” and “H” plus Cathedral Provincial Park.



The Snowy Mountain wildfire is now at about 13,359 hectares in size and is being held. This means the fire is not likely to spread under current weather conditions, but is still not controlled. This wildfire is inoperable in some areas.
