RCMP appeal for witnesses after fire guts boat on Shuswap Lake

CHASE – Police are appealing to the public after a fire gutted a boat on the Shuswap Lake early yesterday morning and a vehicle was seen speeding away.

The fire occurred yesterday, Aug.16, just after 12:30 a.m., according to a media release from Chase RCMP.

Police were called to assist the Scotch Creek Fire Service with a boat on fire near the 2700-block of Squilax Anglemont Road. RCMP say an eyewitness reported seeing a black Pontiac Sunfire speeding away from the area just prior to the boat fire.
