Vernon house fire sparks RCMP investigation

VERNON – Last night crews responded to calls for a house fire in Vernon.

At about 10:23 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 10, Vernon Fire Rescue Services got called to a single family residence at 3901 30th Street.

Interim Fire Chief, David Lind, says at 10:29 p.m. a crew of nine firefighters, and three apparatuses got on scene and started work on the blaze. They extinguished the fire from the outside then went in to search the premises, and work the scene from the inside. There was extensive damage done to the content of the residence and the structure. 

By 12:30 a.m. crews handed the scene over to the RCMP.

Witnesses say they saw people leaving the scene, but the circumstances are still under investigation.
