
Arson charge follows suspicious basement suite blaze
KAMLOOPS – Kamloops RCMP arrested a man following a suspicious fire in a Kamloops residence this morning.
Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie said in a press release issued today, July 23, police and fire department personnel responded to a basement suite in the 100 block of Seymour Street.
Police were notified a small fire in the residence may have been deliberately set.
Kamloops Fire Rescue were able to extinguish the fire quickly, with the house sustaining smoke and water damage.
Police arrested a man shortly after the fire, charging him with arson. The 46 year old is a Kamloops resident and known to police.
