Fatal collision on highway near Kamloops

KAMLOOPS – A fatal accident blocked up the highway in Kamloops yesterday.

On Friday, July 6 at 2:35 p.m., Kamloops RCMP responded to a fatal traffic collision on the East Trans Canada Hwy on the Peterson Creek Bridge.

A media release says a commercial vehicle was travelling Westbound when an adult woman appeared on the roadway at the last minute. The driver was unable to stop and struck the woman. She died at the scene.

No charges are being considered against the truck driver who remained at the scene and cooperated with the police investigation.

The highway was closed for several hours for investigation.

The deceased woman was from Vernon. The file is now with the BC Coroners Service.
