
Kamloops RCMP issue over 90 traffic charges in one day
KAMLOOPS – Local RCMP handed out 95 violation tickets last week as part of a targeted traffic enforcement campaign.
Police officers were stationed at two areas within the city Friday, June 8, where they observed drivers and issued tickets regarding various driving laws, according to an RCMP media release.
Kamloops RCMP say officers issued 23 tickets for drivers using electronic devices, 17 tickets for failing to a wear a seatbelt, 55 miscellaneous tickets and warnings and six unsafe vehicles were removed from the road.
Police say one driver was issued tickets for talking on a cell phone 13 minutes apart.
Over three days in May, the Kamloops Traffic Section worked with the Commercial Vehicle and Safety Enforcement to target unsafe light commercial vehicles, police say. Officers issued 380 tickets and ordered 48 vehicle inspections for unsafe vehicles.
