Regional district seeking another new manager

PENTICTON – Another managerial position is being vacated at the regional district.

The search is on for a new human resources manager at the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen as Marnie Manders prepares to leave on June 22.

The district has been dealing with a revolving door of departing senior managers since late 2016, with the financial manager, public works manager, development services manager and emergency services manager positions all changing hands.

Finance manager Maureen Hayter's resignation last month was the most recent departure.

Chief administrative officer Bill Newell says in an email every employee has unique reasons for moving on. In Manders’ case, she will be starting a new position in Summerland.

“It’s a good move for her,” he says.

Newell says the district has hired for the previously vacant positions of public works manager and manager of finance, both of whom start on June 4.

The district has no other management vacancies at this time.

“We’re currently working on an internal organizational review and we’ll bring the concern about management turnover and lack of redundancy at the management level to the board’s attention in that format,” Newell says.
