Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin frustrated by Keystone XL pipeline delays
CALGARY – Oklahoma’s governor says delays in building the Keystone XL oil pipeline have been “enormously frustrating.”
But, Mary Fallin says, she’s encouraged that the backer of the US$7.6-billion project, TransCanada Corp. (TSX:TRP), plans to soon start building a stretch of pipe from her state south to Texas refineries.
She made her remarks at the Global Petroleum Show in Calgary.
Oklahoma is home to a huge oil storage hub and several pipelines criss-cross the state.
A massive supply glut there has depressed the price North American producers get for their oil and is a major reason why they want to see more pipelines built to help drain some of the excess.
Fallin also says the U.S should be buying crude from a friendly country like Canada instead of from less stable regimes.
