TORONTO – Some of the most active companies traded Tuesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (11,497.30, up 95.51 points):

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Transportation equipment. Up 22 cents, or 6.03 per cent, at $3.87 on 21,121,090 shares. Bombardier announced late Monday a major deal with one of Warren Buffett’s companies, which is poised to buy up to $9.6 billion worth of business jets and services. Private jet company NetJets Inc. signed a deal to buy up to 275 Bombardier Challenger business jets that could be worth up to US$7.3 billion. There are 100 firm orders and options on 175 more.

Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX:SU). Oil and gas. Up 64 cents, or 2.26 per cent, at $28.97 on 7,112,113 shares.

First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (TSX:FM). Miner. Down 36 cents, or 2.01 per cent, at $17.52 on 5,826,529 shares.

Nexen Inc. (TSX:NXY). Oil and gas. Up 16 cents, or 0.98 per cent, at $16.54 on 5,793,552 shares.

Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (TSX:IVN). Miner. Up 31 cents, or 3.02 per cent, at $10.59 on 5,443,923 shares.

Sun Life Financial Inc. (TSX:SLF). Insurance. Up 40 cents, or 1.87 per cent, at $21.74 on 4,861,818 shares.

TSX Venture Exchange (1,269.70, down 7.01 points):

Simba Energy Inc. (TSXV:SMB). Oil and gas. Down one cent, or 4.76 per cent, at 20 cents on 7,444,095 shares.

Anatolia Energy Corp. (TSXV:AEE). Oil and gas. Up 3.5 cents, or 22.58 per cent, at 19 cents on 4,978,550 shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Viterra Inc. (TSX:VT). Agribusiness. Up one cent, or 0.06 per cent, at $16.12 on 2,449,889. Viterra, on the verge of being acquired by a Swiss commodities giant, and says its profit rose to $67 million in the second quarter — more than double what it had the same time last year. On a per-share basis, Viterra earned 18 cents — up from eight cents a year earlier when net income was $30 million.

Imax Corp. (TSX:IMX). Theatres. Up 81 cents, or 3.77 per cent, at $22.30 on 65,221 shares. Two new Empire Theatres complexes in Kingston, Ont. and Edmonton will install Imax big-screen movie technology when they open late this year and in early 2013. Imax says the latest orders from Empire Co. Ltd. (TSX:EMP.A) builds on an agreement the two companies announced in April. Financial terms weren’t disclosed in Tuesday’s announcement.
