Police officers OK after two cruisers crash in downtown Kamloops

KAMLOOPS – After being assessed for injuries at Royal Inland Hospital, Kamloops RCMP officers involved in a crash last night have been released.

Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Jay Wessel says in a news release two officers were responding to an officer in trouble at approximately 10:20 p.m. yesterday, May 17.

A cruiser travelling northbound on 5 Avenue and a second cruiser travelling westbound on Victoria Street ended up colliding.

Wessel says no other people, or civilian vehicles were impacted in the crash.

"Out of an abundance of caution, the officers involved were assessed at hospital but later released," Wessel says.

Police have not released details about the call for an officer in trouble.
