Saskatchewan crash claims the lives of three B.C. residents, injures two others
VANCOUVER – A small community in B.C.’s Shuswap region has been hit hard by a fatal car crash in Saskatchewan.
Mounties say a 47-year-old man, and 19-year-old woman from Sorrento were killed in a crash southwest of Saskatoon just after noon, Sunday.
A 13-year-old girl in the car died later in hospital and police say a 42-year-old woman and 16-year-old boy are being treated for various injuries.
Mounties say a west-bound car tried to pass a transport truck near the town of Rosetown, 118 kilometres southwest of Saskatoon, but collided head-on with an east-bound SUV.
It was raining at the time of the crash and investigators believe visibility was restricted because of spray from the transport truck.
Names of the three dead have not yet been released, and Mounties say both occupants of the SUV have also been taken to hospital.
