Motorcyclist injured after having to make sudden stop on Highway 1

KAMLOOPS – A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital after a crash on Highway 1.

Police, ambulance and fire responded to a single vehicle accident on Highway 1 shortly after 2 p.m. today, April 27, Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Ed Preto says in a news release.

The crash occurred on the East Trans Canada Highway at the Tanager Junction in Valleyview. The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, lost control of his bike when braking to avoid a vehicle that was stopping suddenly in the westbound lane.

His motorcycle slid more than 50 metres after he fell of it, and he was taken to hospital for non life threatening injuries, Preto says.

Highway 1 is now open.
