Magic agree to contract extension with center Wendell Carter Jr.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — The Orlando Magic agreed to a contract extension with center Wendell Carter Jr. on Monday.

Carter averaged 11 points on 52.5% shooting in 55 games last season to help the Magic reach the postseason.

Carter, the No. 7 pick in the 2018 NBA draft, is set to make $12 million this season. Terms of the extension were not disclosed.

The 6-foot-10 Carter played one season at Duke before he was selected by Chicago. The Magic acquired him from the Bulls on March 25, 2021. He has averaged 12.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in 315 career games.
