UPDATE: One dead, four injured in Highway 1 crash just outside of Kamloops

KAMLOOPS – One person was killed and four injured after a head-on crash on the Trans-Canada Highway near Kamloops yesterday.

RCMP say a westbound pickup truck hit and eastbound pickup head-on at around 1:41 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, on Highway 1 west of Kamloops near Greenstone Mountain Road.

The driver and lone occupant of the westbound truck was killed and the four people in the eastbound vehicle were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, according to an RCMP media release.

The highway was closed in both directions for several hours but has since reopened.
