REVELSTOKE – A commercial tractor-trailer and a SUV crashed on Highway 1 near Revelstoke last night sending a Colorado man to hospital.
RCMP say at around 5 p.m. yesterday, Feb. 25, the trailer of a westbound semi crossed the solid double line, blocking the eastbound lanes, and the SUV slammed into it.
The driver of the rented SUV, a 33-year-old man from Colorado, was taken to Queen Victoria Hospital in Revelstoke with non life-threatening injuries, according to an RCMP media release. His two passengers weren’t injured.
Police say the highway at the time of the crash had compact snow with slippery sections.
The SUV was badly damaged in the crash but the trailer only had minor damage.
The Trans-Canada was closed from a couple hours and traffic was diverted through Revelstoke.
RCMP say the 52-year-old Quebec man driving the semi has been charged with failing to keep right.
