LANGLEY, B.C. – Police in Langley, B.C., say a man has been arrested after one of their officers was struck by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene.
RCMP say an officer was conducting traffic enforcement when the crash occurred on Friday morning.
They say the suspect drove away heading northbound toward downtown Langley, but was later found and taken into custody.
They say the 22-year-old man's vehicle, a blue Infiniti G35, was also recovered.
The officer was taken to hospital with what police say are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Mounties say the investigation is continuing.
Supt. Adrian Marsden says they are grateful to the emergency responders and bystanders who helped after the crash.
Given the severity of the injuries, "our officer’s fate likely could have been far worse if it had not been for the kindness of those who helped," Marsden said in the release.
