Winter storm warning issued for North Thompson

NORTH THOMPSON – Environment Canada has put out a warning for hazardous winter conditions expected in the North Thompson.

According to a winter storm warning issued today, Feb. 6, a moist storm system is expected to move into the B.C. Central Interior this evening then stall, snowing heavily over the region.

Snow will begin this afternoon and intensify this evening, Environment Canada says. Total snow amounts of 30 to 50 centimetres are forecast by tomorrow evening. The storm is expected to gradually move southward tomorrow night.

Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult and road closures are possible. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

Check Drive B.C. before you head out on the roads, or follow them on Twitter at @DriveBC.
