Vancouver Giants outshoot Kelowna Rockets in Langley

The Vancouver Giants defeated the Kelowna Rockets 6-1 on Saturday night, Nov. 18, at the Langley Events Centre in Langley.

Vancouver jumped out to a 4-0 lead after 20 minutes.

The Giants scored one more in the second period.

Kelowna rookie Marek Skvrne scored a power play goal in the third to mark his first WHL goal of his career. The Giants added one more for a 6-1 final.

James Porter's record falls to 9-3-2-0 after stopping 14 of 18 shots he faced. Roman Basran came into the game in Porter's relief and stopped 17 of the 19 shots he faced. The Giants outshot the Rockets 37-27.

Kelowna's record drops to 12-7-2-1.

Kelowna now heads to Spokane on Nov. 22 for a Wednesday night meeting with the Chiefs. The Rockets then close out their three game road trip with a stop back in Langley for a rematch with the Giants on Friday, Nov. 24.

The club returns home on Saturday, Nov. 25 for the first meeting with the Medicine Hat Tigers of the 2017-18 regular season. Puck drop is 7:05 p.m.
