Saturday, Sept. 21, marks the first 5K Run in Colour race in Kelowna.
The fundraising event for Kelowna General Hospital will have runners pass through four colour stations located in parks throughout the city’s north end: Jack Brow Park, Sutherland Park, Knox Mountain Park and Walrod Park.
Runners will keep to the sidewalks, pathways and the road’s shoulder for the entire race. However, Water Street will be closed between Sunset Drive and the entrance to Prospera Place parking lot across from Lake City Casino from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. to accommodate the race start, finish and vendors.
Additionally, there will be no parking allowed on the west side of Ellis Street (from Recreation/Manhattan to Central Avenue) between 6 a.m. and 12 p.m. Vehicles parked along this section will be courtesy towed around the corner or across the street to ensure that the race course is clear for runners.
The Dolphins parking lot will be closed to the public on Saturday from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Public parking will be available in the library parkade.
Drivers are asked to exercise caution while driving in Kelowna’s north end on Saturday morning and to watch out for runners on the roadways and pathways.
