Roadside reflectors going in along the Okanagan Connector

MERRITT – The province is installing roadside reflectors along the Okanagan Connector in an effort to improve safety.

The roadside reflectors installed on Highway 97C between Merritt and the Pennask Summit will enhance the delineation of the highway and provide better visibility, according to a Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure media release.

Improvements along the highway will help motorists at night and in adverse conditions such as heavy fog, which is common on this stretch of highway, officials say.

"These small safety improvements can make a big difference for motorists," Claire Trevena with the minstry says in the release. "Visibility can be limited along this stretch in the winter and these reflectors will improve visibility and safety for drivers travelling this route."

A tender call is posted at BC Bid and the project should be awarded in early September with the work to begin sometime in the fall.
