Week begins with smoke filtered sunshine and hot temperatures in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS – The smoky skies shouldn't damper the excitement surrounding the partial solar eclipse visible from Kamloops this morning.

While the wildfire smoke haze is back to begin the week, there is a chance a change in the weather towards the middle for the week will give us a break.

The Evironment Canada  forecast calls for sunshine today, Aug. 21, with wildfire smoke and a high of 30 Celsius. The UV index today is a 7 which is in the high range. There is still a special air quality statement in effect for Kamloops. The wind will be out of the east at 20 km/h this afternoon and becoming light this evening with an overnight low of 14 C.

Sunny and hot tomorrow, with local smoke and a high of 34 C. Overnight, expect clear skies and a low of 15 C.

The sunshine continues on Wednesday with a high of 32 C. That night, there is a 40 per cent chance of shows with cloudy periods and a low of 13 C.

Thursday brings cooler temperatures. Forcasters are calling for a mix of sun cloud, a 40 per cent chance of showers and a high of 22 C. It will be clear overnight with a low of 10 C.

For Friday, sunny with a high of 26 C and a low of 12 C.

The weekend is expected to heat up, according to the weather office, with high temperatures around 31 C both days.

Normal temperatures for this time of year are highs of 27 C and lows of 13 C.
