KAMLOOPS – Power was out for about one hour in an area of downtown Kamloops after a bird flew into a transformer on a hydro pole.

Residents in the 1000 block of Nicola Street were without power from about 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Cali Gee was having dinner with friends when they heard a loud noise.

"All of a sudden there was a big bang. Then all the power went out," Gee says.

They went outside after hearing the noise and found a dead crow laying under the power pole in front of the house.

"Some of its feathers had fallen off and it was definitely dead," she says.

She says crews arrived on scene at 9:55 p.m.
