Death of West Kelowna man found near phone used to call 911 is no longer suspicious

WEST KELOWNA – Tips from the public may have helped police rule out homicide in the suspicious death of a 48-year-old West Kelowna man.

The body was found June 24 in the 1900 block of Pacific Court in Kelowna after a 911 call was abandoned around 3 a.m.

Police found the phone used to make the 911 call in the parking lot of an apartment building and released surveillance footage of a person of interest.

Cause of death was ruled suspicious but according to a media release from Cpl. Tania Carroll, foul play has been ruled out and the investigation has been turned over to the B.C. Coroners Service.

“The Kelowna RCMP wanted to thank all of those who approached investigators or who called in and provided information, as it assisted us with completing this investigation in a timely manner,” Carroll says.
