UPDATE: Man hit and killed by dump truck in Penticton

PENTICTON – A pedestrian was hit by a dump truck in downtown Penticton this afternoon.

RCMP say at about 1:51 p.m. today, June 29, a 51-year-old Penticton man was struck and runover by the trailer on a dump truck on Eckhardt Avenue between Main and Martin Streets.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to an RCMP media release. His family has been notified, but his identity has not been released.

Eckhardt Avenue between Main and Martin Streets was closed while the B.C. Coroners Service and a police traffic re-constructionist investigated.
