Crews battling Cawston wildfire
PENTICTON – A wildfire discovered near Cawston yesterday continued to burn last night.
B.C. Wildfire Service reports the fire, which broke out yesterday, June 27, is now 116 hectares in size with zero containment.
While not considered an interface fire, an uninhabited outbuilding has been destroyed in the blaze.
As of 8:30 p.m. yesterday, June 27, two helicopters, 26 firefighters and one piece of heavy equipment had been assigned to the fire, with 20 more firefighters scheduled to arrive this morning.
Air tankers were also working the fire yesterday.
The cause is under investigation.
