Kamloops boat launches are open again

KAMLOOPS – River levels have dropped a meter over the past week in Kamloops, which is good news for boaters.

Caution is still advised for anyone in and around the rivers and waterways in the area, but the launches, which were closed on June 1 as waters were rising in the Thompson Rivers, are once again open to the public as of today, June 19.

The City is warning anyone who does decide to take their boat out that the river may have more hidden dangers than normal, according to a press release, as river markers have been dislodged and the high waters have caused an excess of debris in the rivers.

On top of that, idling speeds are suggested to help prevent the erosion of the river banks.
