FLOOD WATCH 2017 VIDEO: Green Bay residents fighting high water could use some help

WEST KELOWNA – Flooding is no longer only a concern for residents near creeks and streams, it's now a present emergency for all residents on Okanagan Lake and that means every home in Green Bay.

The 58 homes in the area are on flat ground never more than a few feet above the lake. Now the water level is over some lower retaining walls.

The area used to flood regularly until new homes were built with higher retaining walls but that's only one of the concerns there as ground water has already started to rise to fill basements.

Residents have been working all day filling sandbags and helping neighbours secure their properties as best they can. It's a close community but they could use some help — not just tourists.
