Canadian Forces parachute team joining Peachfest this year
PENTICTON – Peachfest will be literally jumping with activity this year, with the recent announcement of Canada’s military parachute team confirming an appearance at the Penticton festival this summer.
The Canadian Forces Skyhawks Parachute Team are expected to perform on Wednesday, Aug. 9 along with the Canadian Forces Snowbirds. A CF-18 Hornet fighter jet is also scheduled to make an appearance at this year’s Penticton Peach Festival.
"Having this type of a show on opening night is going to be incredible," Festival president Don Kendall says in a media release.
The Skyhawks have made more than 5,000 jumps in shows that have entertained more than 75 million spectators throughout the world, according to the release. The premier parachute demonstration team, which was established in 1971, bring their parachutes in close proximity to each other as they build spectacular formations in the sky.
