Evening patio fire sparks warning from Kelowna Fire Department

KELOWNA – Smoking is being the likely reason a fire started on the patio of a northend Kelowna home yesterday.

The small fire was reported April 12 around 5:15 p.m. coming from the rear deck of a residence in the 900 block of Coronation Avenue.

It was quickly extinguished before it could cause major damage to the structure.

A media release from Kelowna Fire Department says the cause is still being investigated but concludes with a warning.

"Always dispose of smoking materials responsibly," Platoon Capt. Tim Light says in the release.
