Break-ins and vehicle theft keep Penticton RCMP busy

PENTICTON – Penticton RCMP responded to a number of calls involving vehicle theft, and break and enters last week.

Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says police were called to an industrial break-in at Unit Electrical Engineering Ltd. on Maple Street in Okanagan Falls.

The incident took place overnight Wednesday, March 15 and was reported to police at 7:30 a.m. on March 16.

A white GMC pickup truck, license plate CP7 146, was reported stolen along with numerous contractor tools from the inside of a building still under construction, Wrigglesworth says. Suspects cut a padlock to gain entrance to a storage area as well as access to a man door into the building.

Police are looking at video surveillance as the investigation continues.

A resident in the 400 block of Young Street reported a grey, 2001 Ford Ranger pickup, licence plate HM4368, stolen overnight on March 16.

Police are also investigating the theft of a 1996 Dodge Neon overnight, March 18, from an Eckhardt Avenue residence.

On March 20 at 8:10 a.m., police were advised two vehicles parked at a Power Street residence had been entered and rummaged through overnight. Loose change, house keys and insurance papers were taken from the vehicles. A Mastercraft combo tool kit containing an impact drill, reciprocating saw, radio batteries and a charger was also reported missing from a workshop on the property.
