Three alarm fire in Okanagan Metis Housing complex may have started in the kitchen

WEST KELOWNA – Yesterday's aggressive three alarm fire that started in a West Kelowna townhouse complex was likely caused by a pot on the stove.

Several reports of a fire in the 2400 block of Ingram Road came in at approximately 2:30 p.m. yesterday, Assistant Fire Chief Brent Watson says in a release.

"A large plume of smoke was clearly visible to West Kelowna Fire Rescue units on route to the fire, and the incident was quickly upgraded to a second, and then a third, alarm," Watson says in the release.

No occupants were inside when fire crews arrived.

"Investigations show the fire was accidental and was most likely caused by a pot on the stove in the kitchen," Watson says.
