Local fighter ranked third best in the country

KELOWNA – Local MMA athlete Sarah “Cheesecake” Moras was recently ranked in the top three female fighters in Canada by MMACanada.net.

Moras, 26, got her start on the TV show The Ultimate Fighter last year and won her first official fight in the UFC by unanimous decision July 6 against Alexis Dufresne.

“I think every ranking does it differently. There’s really no way to know who the best is without everyone fighting each other” she says. “What matters to me is I want to be at the top.”

Moras, a bantamweight with a pro record of 4-1-0 was also voted Canada’s most popular female fighter with more than 46 per cent of the votes.

She says she is hoping to fight in the UFC again in December, but will have to wait for a knee and back injury to heal before she can commit.

“I don’t have an opponent set yet unfortunately,” she says. “The UFC has guaranteed me another fight, it’s just not in writing.”
