Woman pistol whipped in Oliver home invasion

OLIVER – A woman suffered serious head injuries after she was pistol whipped during a home invasion in the South Okanagan earlier this week.

RCMP say officers were called to the South Okanagan Medical Clinic in Oliver at about 1 a.m., Monday, Dec. 12. A woman and man, who had been injured in a home invasion robbery, were there for treatment.

The robbery had just taken place at the couple's home in the 5000 block of Sunflower Street, according to a RCMP media release.

"Three fully masked males, each armed with a weapon which included two firearms, forced their way into the home and tied the two victims up," Cpl. Dan Moskaluk says in the release. "The female victim was 'pistol whipped' resulting in serious head injuries."

He says the man wasn't seriously hurt.

After the supsect ransacked the home, they left.

"Investigators believe that the incident was a target event and not a random act," Moskaluk says.
