$176,000 in jewelry stolen from the Bay

KELOWNA – A daring break and enter at the Bay in Orchard Park Mall almost a month ago has police asking the public for help identifying three suspects who stole $176,000 worth of jewelry.

Const. Steve Holmes says two males and one female used a tool to pry open the door of the department store at around 3 a.m. August 19.

The suspects entered through the Cooper Road entrance and proceeded directly to the purse and jewelry area where they smashed glass cases and removed the highest value items.

The suspects fled in a getaway vehicle driven by a male who was waiting outside during the theft.

More than 130 items were taken in only a couple minutes, and Holmes says the thieves likely knew exactly what they were after.

Items stolen include several Movado brand watches, an 18K white gold diamond cluster ring, several men’s and ladies diamond watches and diamond and ruby rings.

Police are looking for a short male who was wearing a brown jacket and grey baseball cap, another male who is taller and was wearing black pants and a grey shirt as well as a slender female wearing a black top, black pants and a black cap. All three suspects had their faces covered during the theft.

The getaway vehicle is a light-coloured SUV similar to a Jeep Cherokee with a sunroof and no front license plate.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Const. De Jong at 250-762-3300.
